The world’s highest ever cricket game is to be played on Mount Everest, by two British teams named after Tenzing and Hillary. This is a T-20 match to be played on April 21st. on a frozen lake near the Khumbu glacier, which is going to be televised. This match is for charity to rise funds for The Himalayan Trust, UK, set up by Hillary in aid of the Sherpa community. There are criticisms from certain quarters voicing concern that already the mountain climbers are polluting the Himalayas and the Everest has earned the nickname of being the world’s highest dumping yard. It is felt that this is an entirely silly and avoidable adventure.

A cricket pitch is 20m in length and 3.0m in width. Pitch plays a crucial part in deciding the outcome of the match. There is always a pitch reporter who analyses the pitch and gives the report which in turn used for making changes in the team. Most of the pitches in the sub-continent are flat pitches except for a few. But the pitches in Australia are normally bowler friendly. Pitches will always be prepared by consulting the hosting team captain. These days’ pitches are made batsman friendly in order to make the crowd entertaining. Some matches have been called off in the middle of the play due to bad pitch.
